President Bill Clinton says his recent remarks on the tax increases of
1993 were misinterpreted. "Probably there are people in this room still mad
at me because you think I raised your taxes too much," he told a $1,000-per-head fund-raiser in Houston. "It might surprise you to know
that I think I raised them too much, too."
The president now says he meant to say: "I think I raised
your Texas too much."
